tunaipsum.com Generator Plugin

Here is the plugin I wrote to power tunaipsums.com’s content generator. I tried writing it in a way that makes it easy to expand upon and modify, but it’s still a very early set of code.

A Fishier Lorem Ipsum Generator

Once you have installed and activated the plugin, simply add the [get-fishier] shortcode where you would like to display the generator form and generated content. I’m going to add attribute support, but for now, that does not function. You can put content inside the shortcode however. This shows above the generator form and below the generated content.

Example use:

[get-fishier]Does your lorem ipsum text long for something a little fishier? Give our generator a try… it’s fishy![/get-fishier]

I’ll probably turn this into a WordPress.org plugin if it gets accepted.

If you use the code somewhere, let me know by posting a link here or sending @chrisjean a tweet.

A belly full of fish

In keeping with the near 100% plagiarism of baconipsum.com, I’d like to thank all the visitors to tunaipsum.com.

After working on this for a few hours, I had an insatiable craving for sushi, so I had to take a break and join a buddy for some sushi madness!

With a belly full of fish, I returned home and hit the generator code with renewed fervor. Frankly, I went a bit overboard with the generation. Taking queues from PHP Lorem Ipsum, I decided that I could have a content generator that included things like commas, semicolons, colons, quotes, em dashes, and even varying kinds of terminal punctuation beyond just a period. This turned what could have been a quick coding session into an up-until-3am coding session. However, I think the effort was worth it.

Let me know what you think of the generated content. I’ll add the code-in-progress (as I’m still adding features) shortly.

PS: If you’re ever in Edmond, OK, stop by Sumo Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar. They have an all-you-can-eat sushi special that will put a smile on your plate.
